An Advisory group will meet twice during the course of the project and we maintain monthly contact with them about progress on the research. Membership includes:
Cath Duce is a Fieldworker of the Action Research: Church and Society (ARCS) project based in London. This is a partnership project between Heythrop College, University of London and the Oxford Centre for Ecclesiology and Practical Theology at Ripon College Cuddesdon. With a degree in Geography and an MA in Gender Research (Newcastle), Catherine has a particular interest in Latin America.
Revd Chris Hughes is based at Ushaw College, the seminary in the North of England for the training of Catholic priests, where is has worked in the Pastoral Department since 1999.
Elinor Predota is a PhD researcher at Newcastle University. She has worked with young people in a variety of community development projects for over ten years.
Judith Sadler is Christian Aid North East Unit Manager. She has also taught Religious Education in comprehensive schools and has been an advisor in Children's Work.
Katherine Scholfield is a Research Assistant for the Developing Areas Research Network (DARN). She is also conducting a PhD in development studies at the University of Manchester. She also has both academic and non-academic interests in international volunteering.
Kate Simpson currently works for Impact International providing business facilitation and leadership development. She completed her PhD at Newcastle University with research that focused on international volunteering in Latin America, and she has published a number of papers on the subject. Kate is also involved in a number of projects to influence the ethical issues involved in international volunteering (see www.ethicalvolunteering.org).
Alan Tower leads the work of Latin Link in Britain and Ireland, recruiting personnel for projects alongside churches in Latin America, and for Latin Americans here. Around 80 members are on open ended placements, thirty leave each year to join new projects, and 120 serve during each year on teams in 12 countries throughout Latin America.
Rob Wiggins was formerly Northumbria University's Student Development Manager. In this role he helped establish overseas volunteering placements, UK based student community action intiatives and managed various personal development projects for students.
